Inspired by vintage clothing, FOB FACTORY creates workwear, military garments, and jeans from its base in Kojima, Kurashiki, Okayama—one of Japan's leading production regions. Every stage of production is carried out in Japan, with the aim of making clothes that customers will still be glad they bought three years later.
A Plaid That Fades Like Denim
The fabric is a 100% cotton ombré check, finished in a versatile weight that can be worn throughout the year.
Ombré refers to a check pattern in which the shades gradually transition like a gradient. The softly blurred boundaries between colors give it a calmer, more understated appearance than a conventional grid check, making it easy to incorporate into everyday styling.
The indigo sections are dyed using the same rope-dyeing method used for denim. Because only the surface of the yarn is dyed while the core remains white, repeated wear and washing gradually wears away the outer color, creating the tonal variation and irregular fading characteristic of denim.
The colored sections are also treated with a special discharge-reactive dyeing process. As not only the indigo but the entire pattern gradually changes over time, the shirt evolves from its vivid original colors into the softly faded character of a well-worn vintage piece.
An Open Collar and Characterful Cat-Eye Buttons
The neckline features an open collar that sits cleanly around the neck. Even when fully buttoned and worn on its own, it retains a relaxed appearance, while also working naturally as a light layer over a T-shirt.
The front is fitted with shell cat-eye buttons featuring a recessed center. Their simple, workwear-inspired shape and the subtle luster unique to natural shell add a quiet accent against the check pattern.
A flap pocket is positioned at the front.
The hem is cut straight with no difference in length between the front and back. When worn untucked, the even hemline creates a well-balanced look with wide trousers or denim.
A Relaxed Boxy Silhouette
The shirt features a roomy body with a boxy silhouette that falls straight to the hem. It does not cling to the body's contours, making it easy to wear either on its own or as a light outer layer.
