The predecessor of BARNSTORMER was founded in 1977. At the height of the Ivy style era, it was considered groundbreaking to create American traditional clothing in Japan using fabrics with the same character and factories capable of reproducing American sewing techniques. BARNSTORMER’s theme is to recreate not only the clothing but also the lifestyle of America from that time—when ordinary styles looked effortlessly cool and classic basics felt truly sophisticated.
Brand-Signature Ripstop Fabric
The fabric is a lightweight yet highly durable ripstop.
Based on a high-density fabric put into practical use by the U.S. military around 1900, it faithfully recreates parachute cloth woven with thicker yarns in a grid pattern to help prevent tearing.
With continued wear, wrinkles and abrasion gradually develop into character, allowing you to enjoy the rich aging of the fabric over time.
A Tailored Collar That Brings Refined Character
A tailored collar is used at the neckline. It sharpens the casual four-pocket design and gives the jacket a neat, refined appearance.
The front features four pockets, a defining detail of the safari jacket. Although visually distinctive, the design is refined with inspiration from classic American traditional blazers, keeping the overall look from becoming overly casual.
Interior pockets are placed on both sides. Used together with the four exterior pockets, they make it easy to keep valuables and other essentials neatly organized.
The jacket uses a partial lining only across the upper back, with no sleeve lining for a lighter construction. It retains the polished appearance of a tailored jacket while allowing heat and moisture to escape more easily, making it comfortable across a long season.
A center vent at the back hem provides ease of movement while maintaining the clean, tailored appearance of the rear silhouette.
