■A distinctive choice beyond the familiar classics.
Introducing the WEP Flight Jacket from BUZZ RICKSON'S, based on the jacket adopted by the U.S. Navy.
Its distinctive collar and large flap pockets offer something different from familiar styles such as the MA-1 and N-1. Rugged military character is balanced by a neat, short length that pairs naturally with denim or chinos, making it an easy addition to weekend American casual looks.
This model reproduces the final Type C version introduced in the late 1960s. From the distinctive V-shaped sleeve ribbing to the smallest details, its historical character makes it a rewarding piece for military clothing enthusiasts.

BUZZ RICKSONS
Founded in 1993, BUZZ RICKSONS is dedicated to preserving the history and pride of flight jackets. Following original military specifications, the brand meticulously recreates every detail, from yarn spinning and weaving to fabric composition, military hardware, and overall silhouette. Each piece reflects a commitment to craftsmanship that captures the enduring appeal of vintage flight jackets.

The nylon shell has a smooth texture and a subtle sheen. A deep olive green enhances its rugged military character.
Inside, a 100% cotton lining and insulating fill provide warmth, making this fabric well suited to a spring or autumn jacket.

Another U.S. Navy Classic
Commonly known as the WEP, this jacket is officially designated J-WFS (Jacket, Winter Flying Suit). Its familiar nickname derives from the U.S. Navy's Naval Weapons bureau.
Issued from the mid-1950s through around the mid-1970s, this winter flight suit jacket was originally developed to be worn with matching trousers.
Distinct from familiar styles such as the MA-1, its unique design carries a history specific to U.S. naval aviation.

The stand collar is made from 100% wool ribbing. Soft and gently contoured around the neck, it helps keep cold winds out.
A buttoned tab secures the collar in place. Wear it upright for a defined, rugged look, or open it for a more relaxed feel. This versatile detail lets you adjust the jacket's expression to suit your style.

Large flap pockets give the front a distinctive presence. Snap closures help keep small essentials securely inside.
An additional flap pocket sits on the left sleeve.

Generous action pleats extend from the back toward the underarms. They open naturally as you reach forward, allowing greater freedom of movement around the shoulders.

The cuffs feature 100% wool ribbing for a comfortable fit around the wrists that helps keep cold winds out.
A distinctive V-shaped cut marks the transition from sleeve to cuff. Unique to the Type C, this significant departure from earlier WEP designs reflects the care taken to reproduce even the smallest details.

Tabs inside the lining were designed to connect the jacket to its matching trousers. This characteristic WEP detail recalls its original development as part of a complete flight suit.
Though rarely needed for everyday wear, these tabs preserve an essential part of the original design. Even the hidden details offer a tangible connection to military history.

Fine shirring gathers the hem for a comfortable fit around the waist. It helps keep cold winds out while creating the jacket's soft, rounded silhouette.

A roomy body and sleeves create the rounded silhouette characteristic of a flight jacket. The shorter length keeps the overall look clean and balanced, making its generous volume easy to wear.
