TAILOR TOYO
TAILOR TOYO / Reversible Acetate Souvenir Jacket
TAILOR TOYO introduces the “Acetate Souvenir Jacket,” a faithful reproduction of a rare vintage souvenir jacket originally produced in the early 1950s. This carefully crafted piece captures the atmosphere and craftsmanship of the era.
The intricate embroidery is the jacket's defining feature, with numerous thread colors used to create a striking and richly detailed finish. Delicate gradations add depth and dimension, faithfully reproducing the original designs that served as the source for each color variation down to the smallest details.
The reversible design offers a different look on each side, while both the outer and inner fabrics are made from acetate, a material once valued as a substitute for silk during the postwar period of material restrictions. With no padding, the jacket is lightweight enough to wear comfortably throughout the year. Its classic, slightly cropped silhouette adds a timeless character, making it a truly exceptional piece for those who appreciate the craftsmanship and history embodied in a vintage-inspired souvenir jacket.

TAILOR TOYO
The souvenir jacket represents the very history of TAILOR TOYO. After World War II, jackets embroidered with oriental motifs and military unit names were created as commemorative items for American soldiers stationed in Japan. The company that would become TAILOR TOYO (TOYO ENTERPRISE CO., LTD.), originally known as KOSHO & CO., supplied these souvenir jackets and other garments to U.S. military bases at the time. Rather than being a passing trend, TAILOR TOYO is the only brand that has continued to preserve the souvenir jacket as a cultural tradition.

The unique expression of acetate, with a silk-like texture.
The outer and reverse fabrics use acetate material known for its smooth feel and beautiful sheen. During the postwar period under material restrictions, acetate was valued as a substitute material offering a luxurious appearance similar to silk. Even the texture of the fabric faithfully recreates the authentic character of that era.
With a construction without insulation, it can be worn comfortably across a long season. The distinctive soft drape is one of its key appeals, gradually adapting to the body with wear while allowing you to experience the atmosphere of the original era.
Faithfully preserving vintage character
The eye-catching embroidery uses a wide range of thread colors to create vivid gradients, resulting in a striking sense of depth and a powerful visual impact.

The 【145/Green×Silver】 design faithfully follows the original artwork. Among the brand’s many tiger motifs, this version stands out for its especially detailed stripes, along with the distinctive red lines around the intense, bloodshot eyes. On the reverse side, the Fuji and pine tree embroidery is positioned slightly lower than usual, just as it was on the early 1950s original that inspired the design. Even this subtle detail, which creates the perfect balance of the composition, has been faithfully reproduced.

The 【119/Black×Off White】 design features a dynamic eagle embroidery, with orange-brown threads used to create intricate gradients throughout the feathers. It also faithfully recreates the rare block-style "JAPAN" lettering found on early 1950s vintage pieces that served as the design source. Every detail has been carefully considered, with the same meticulous attention to design carried through on both sides.
The neckline, cuffs, and hem feature ribbing based on the details of baseball jackets familiar to American soldiers. The tricolor combinations vary depending on the body color, adding a distinctive accent.
The front zipper uses the original "T.Y.E" butterfly zipper, specially produced based on hand-bent zippers from the 1950s. This old-style zipper features pulls on both sides, faithfully recreating vintage details.
The sleeves use raglan construction for a relaxed shoulder line, while triangular gussets are placed under the arms to expand mobility. The thoughtful design allows comfortable movement without restriction when worn.
The reversible side of the 【119/Black×Off White】 features a body known as a "reverse color combination," with darker sleeves than the main body. This is a rare detail even among vintage examples.
The pockets feature slash pockets with single-welt construction, adding a classic souvenir jacket detail and a subtle accent to the design.
A silhouette inherited from vintage designs
The jacket features the classic souvenir jacket silhouette, with a shorter length and a relaxed amount of room through the body, faithfully recreating the proportions of vintage originals. The acetate fabric creates a beautiful drape and subtle sheen, bringing a refined touch to its rugged character.
With both sides designed to stand on their own, this reversible piece can become the focal point of any outfit. Simply throw it on to anchor your look, and as you wear it more, its versatility only grows.
